West Valley City, Utah ?*Over the last couple of years, I have always meant to write up something regarding Susan Powell, the 28-year-old from Utah who vanished over two years ago. No real reason why I didn?t, but I think at the she disappeared we were posting on a handful of missing women. So here?s my all-in-one post spurred by the recent arrest of her creepy father-in-law. Susan was last seen by her husband and person of interest, Josh Powell, who told authorities that the last time he saw his wife was right before he took their two sons, ages 2 and 4, on a midnight camping trip during a snow storm. According to Josh, she wasn?t feeling well and decided not to go. When he returned home the following day, Susan was nowhere to be found, although she had left her purse, cell phone, and car behind. She has not been seen or heard from since. Of course no one is buying Josh?s alibi as it is retarded. Even his initial interviews with reporters come off awkward and evasive.*However with a lack of any hard evidence, or Susan, Josh has remained nothing more than a person of interest and no arrests have been made in regards to his missing wife. Since that time Josh and his father, 61-year-old Steve Powell, have repeatedly made*themselves*out to be a couple of really creepy individuals, making a couple television appearances in a blatant attempt to sully Susan?s reputation. They claim Susan had mental issues as evident by some entries she had made in her dairy as a teen*and threatened to post the entries on a website Josh allegedly created himself in an on-going effort to convince people his wife had simply ran off with another man or had committed suicide. Steve went even further, stating in an on-air interview that his daughter-in-law was very sexual and overly flirtatious. He claimed that he and Susan were falling in love with each other prior to her disappearing. ?Really, I?m 30 years older than she is,? he told ABC News. ?I said, well Josh, it was Susan that came onto me. As he thought about it, and the next few months he started watching Susan more carefully, it became clear that that?s how she interacted with the opposite sex.? Not*surprisingly, Susan?s friends and family say that this is all bullshit and totally opposite of Susan?s character. In fact, they say Susan hated being around Steve and only put up with him because it was Josh?s dad. She also told her father that she wasn?t comfortable with her kids around him. If the latter claim is true, her instincts were as good as Steve Powell?s estranged daughter who wouldn?t let her children be around him either. On September 22, Steve was arrested and charged with possessing child pornography. Police say he had thousands of images of women and girls he had taken of them in parks. A large chink of the pictures were of his neighbor?s two girls. He?s accused of using a telephoto lens to take photos of them while they were in the bathroom, mostly remaining focused on their breasts and genitals. Adding to some creepy to the pervy, he also had photos he secretly took of women?s buttocks and breasts, including photos of Susan. Police say it looks like Steve has been*secretly*filming women for at least 10 years. ?With his arrest and the the things that have now come out, I feel definitely vindicated. And his attacking my daughter?s character, we now see clearly in context why he was doing that, at least I do? Susan?s father said. Turns out that Steve has had a long, ongoing obsession with his daughter-in-law, going all the way back to 2002, according to Steven?s longtime friend Sandy Anderson. He confided in her, telling her that Susan was all he could think about and that he even had a stash of porn and articles of Susan?s clothing. She may have even been the subject of some of the love songs he had written. ?He was hung up on her sexually, it seemed,? *Anderson said. ?He?d talk about trying to see under her clothing, see her breasts. Even back then, he had this idea she was flirting with him.? Since Josh and his sons have been living with Steve, the state took custody of the two boys while they continue their investigation. Susan?s parents immediately filed for custody of their grandchildren, and I pray to my potted plant that they get it. While Steve fights his child porn charges and Josh fights to keep custody of his boys, searchers are examining about 100 charred pieces of wood that was taken from an area around Topaz*Mountain. Initially called a shallow grave that had been disturbed, police feel they were used to burn remains after cadaver dogs detected human decomposition on the pieces.
