Over the years Samsung have always released variants of their top flagship phone for the masses. Some of these variants offer moderate specs which always come in second to the specification that is found in their flagship phone.
Samsung I9103 Galaxy R exactly does that. With a brushed metallic body it falls right in between Galaxy S2 and the mid-range droid Galaxy W. Galaxy R offers better specs than the Galaxy W while staying right below the performance and price range of the top droid flagship.
At first glance Galaxy R appears thicker and heavier than Galaxy S2 but remains the same in height. As it was already mentioned Galaxy R is the economical version of the Galaxy S2, But unlike the Galaxy S2, Galaxy R features a brushed metal place which provides a nice feel and touch to the all plastic body.
Unlike Galaxy S2 which features a Super AMOLED Plus display which provides clear and crisp color Galaxy R comes with 4.2inch of SC-LCD screen with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Now this screen cannot be compared with SAMOLED Plus display that is found in Galaxy S2 but it is not a letdown because the screen gives good color representation and behaves pretty well viewed from an angle.
The back side of the phone features a brushed metal plate above which is positioned the 5MP camera with LED flash. Galaxy R comes with a battery of 1650mAH capacity and has been quoted to provide 9 hours of talk time and up to 25 days of standby time.
The phone is pretty comfortable to hold in the hands and as we mentioned that its little thicker and heavier than the Galaxy S2 but you won?t notice those difference because the phone is built solidly.
Samsung Galaxy R is powered by Nvidia Tegra 2, 1 GHz dual core processor which puts it at a bit of disadvantage when it?s compared with Galaxy S2. But in the department of GFX performance it?s absolutely stunning mostly due to the presence of a dedicated GPU.
So if you?re into a budget performing mobile then Galaxy R is the device of choice because it will be able to provide you with good 3D performance.
Galaxy R runs Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 with Samsung?s TouchWiz 4.0 launcher on top. In terms of android performance you won?t notice any significant difference from the performance of that in Galaxy S2 and also the user interface is completely identical to the one found in Galaxy S2.
In the camera department the 5MP is able to take splendid images with great sharpness while keeping the color render accurate. The photos also have good contrast level and white balance.
All in all Galaxy R manages to snatch its own spot in the galaxy lineup while providing a performance which is better than other galaxy lineup while failing by one or two steps to reach the galaxy S2 level.
Samsung I9103 Galaxy R is the perfect device for people who are looking to save some money while getting almost the same performance that is found in the Galaxy S2.
