[Order this photo]The White River Valley Lady Wolverines fell to 4-9 on the year following a 51-20 loss to Class A No. 2 Barr-Reeve Monday night at Montgomery in a non-conference girls basketball game.
The Lady Vikings (10-0) ran to a 17-2 first quarter lead and held the Lady Wolverines to just a field goal for over 10 minutes of the first half.
Lydia Miller scored WRV's only points of the first half with baskets at the 6 minute, 45 second mark of the first quarter and at the 4:25 mark of the second.
"Our first half was very uninspiring," WRV coach A.J. Graves said. "It was obvious to a lot of people that we just were not ready to play tonight."
In between, Barr-Reeve rattled off 28 straight points to help build a 39-4 halftime lead that grew to 48-8 after three quarters before a WRV 12-3 edge in the final stanza resulted in the final margin.
"The second half we turned it around," Graves said. "We wanted to play defense and force them into a lot of turnovers in the second half, so it wasn't a total disaster."
The Lady Wolverines finished the night with 31 total turnovers while they forced 24 -- all but nine in the second half -- from Barr-Reeve.
Tya Harmon led the Lady Vikings with 27 points while Allison Wininger came off the bench to lead WRV with eight points, all in the final stanza.
The Lady Wolverines will remain idle until Wednesday Jan. 4 when they will travel to North Daviess for a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference game at Switz City.
