Portland mini-orchestra Pink Martini pair with legendary Japanese vocalist Saori Yuki to collaborate on a new album.

Pink Martini & Saori Yuki - 1969Leader of 13-piece pop-jazz-bossa nova orchestra Pink Martini, Thomas Lauderdale, discovered Saori Yuki?s 1969 debut album Scat In The Dark years ago.

The band covered her song ?Taya Tan? on their 2007 album Hey Eugene! and three years later they brought her on board to sing a Japanese version of White Christmas for their Joy To The World festive album.

After performing tsunami benefit concerts in Japan last year, Yuki and Pink Martini recorded twelve songs from 1969 in Portland, the date becoming the title of the album.
