Oakland Raiders

The Raiders have had a few big wins since last season, but this may have been the most impressive. The Raiders have struggled against teams with powerful front sevens. They haven't been able to get the run game on track, and they had just been flat out bullied. The Raiders were the bullies in this one.

The Raiders were simply too strong and too fast for the Jets, and nowhere was this more apparent than in the run game (with a close second to their D-line). Hue's crew ran for 234 yards on 32 carries and added four rushing touchdowns.

Darren McFadden led the way. His 171 yards are the most the Jets have allowed to a running back under Rex Ryan, and he is just the fourth running back to crack the century mark against Ryan's Jets.

Enough cannot be said by the job turned in by this offensive line. They were all fantastic. Wisniewski played well beyond his years, Satele was solid, and had the block of the week on Moore's reverse TD run. And Jared Veldheer turned in one of his finest performances. He was great at the point of attack and awesome on the second level.

The great blocking was not all turned in by the linemen either. Kevin Boss was everything we'd hoped he'd be. When McFadden broke off long runs, they were started by Boss sealing the edge. Also, Richard Gordon got a few snaps at fullback, and did a fine job laying his massive body on overmatched Jets. The wide receivers also did a tremendous job of downfield blocking.

These guys weren't just great in run blocking either. They were stellar in pass protection. Jason Campbell was sacked only one time, and Darren McFadden sacked him when their feet got tangled.

Jason Campbell stats aren't pretty. He was 18/27 for 156 with no touchdowns or interceptions. But don't let that fool you. He played a fantastic game. He made excellent decisions and showed excellent pocket awareness. He also turned in one of the biggest plays of the game with a brilliant pass to Michael Bush on the Raiders last drive. That was a thing of beauty, and it started with him creating the opportunity with his feet.

Denarius Moore is making the awesome routine. His cutback on the reverse took two Jets out of the play, and his stretch and dive to break the goal line defied gravity. He also caught four passes and drew a PI on another.

Had the Raiders signed Antonio Cromartie he would have been hard pressed to ever make as positive an impact for them today as he did as a member of the Jets. He had four penalties and the gaffe of the game on a fumbled kickoff. He then left the game with a bruised lung.

Jarvis Moss was absolutely spectacular. He had two sacks, a tackle for a loss and a tipped pass. He showed off his athleticism by quickly acting to misdirections. He was a key player in stopping the effectiveness of the Jets bootlegs.

Lamarr Houston had his finest game of the season. He did a great job sealing the edge and pushing his linemen back to disrupt run plays.

The rest of the D-line: If Tommy Kelly and Richard Seymour weren't routinely amazing, they would get singled out here because they were stellar again. John Henderson was also absolutely beastly. This guy is strong enough to wreck three blocker on a single run play. Henderson is a classic example of a defensive tackle whose impact you can't measure by stats.

Sebastian Janikowski! What a game for SeaBass. When Al Davis drafted Jano in the first round this is what he envisioned. Janikowski has been on a steady incline throughout his career, and he is now without question the best in the game. He has made 50-yarders a chip shot. The 49-yarder to seal the game was dead center and it hit the net halfway up. That was a clutch kick. Most kickers, if not all, in the NFL and you strongly consider punting there. The risk of field position is too much. With SeaBass it is a no-brainer.

Rolando McClain continues to be up and down. He made some nice plays in the pass and run game, and he finished with 12 tackles. He also did his Death Ro Suplex Slam, and this time it was a tight end, but he still runs right into blockers too often. He also whiffed on a tackle to LT on the first quarter screen pass.

Speaking of LT...I can't tell you how happy I am LT is no longer in the AFC West. If he played the Raiders every game he'd have a million touchdowns and a bazillion yards. Have a nice flight back to NY, LT. This very well could be the last time the Raiders have to play him.

Read More: Jason Campbell (QB - OAK), Richard Seymour (DT - OAK), Antonio Cromartie (CB - NYJ), Sebastian Janikowski (K - OAK), Kevin Boss (TE - OAK), Jarvis Moss (DE - OAK), Michael Bush (RB - OAK), Darren McFadden (RB - OAK), Rolando McClain (LB - OAK), Jared Veldheer (OT - OAK), Lamarr Houston (DE - OAK), Denarius Moore (WR - OAK)

But we did embarrass Rex Ryan. And being on the east coast I enjoyed watxhing Asumgha?s mythology evaporate as he looked confused, slow and very mediocre being beaten over top by Cruz, and also seeing him taken out of a play when he collided with a team mate. I also had to smile seeing Z. Miller make 2 useless catches for the Seahags.

by Name's Dalton on Sep 26, 2011 12:17 PM PDT up reply actions Not as big a mess as the Eagles secondary...that was totally enjoyable. Nmamdi looked like we made the right move?.living on a myth.

Im glad the fiasco is over but Mr. Davis should not take all of the blame for some of the recent failures. The last few coaches we had were not doing what they get paid to do. Lame Kiffen was just trying to stepping stone us and blame Mr.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady considers Martinez his mentor and works with him every off-season to clean up his mechanics.

He also worked out with JaMarcus Russell prior to the 2007 NFL Draft Martinez has recently been interviewed by the Oakland Raiders as a candidate for their quarterbacks coach position.Martinez blames the Oakland Raiders coaches for all but ruining QB JaMarcus Russell. ?He was never wanted there by any of the coaches,? Martinez told The New York Times. ?The only one who wanted him there was Al Davis, he told them to draft him. He was the epitome of an Al Davis quarterback.?

by samiam2112 on Sep 26, 2011 3:42 PM PDT up reply actions and that's why we took Pryor Al believes Hue can develop him, and he doesn?

I?m a little worried about giving Terelle Marc Wilson?s old number 6, but it makes the Campbell/Plukentt comparisons almost complete :)

by BlackHeartSilverEyes on Sep 26, 2011 1:24 PM PDT up reply actions 'bout time the D makes adjustments at halftime. They stayed in their lanes, didn?t overpursue, and stopped biting on Sanchez?s bootlegs. I still expect more from ?Ro and not ready to lower my expectations yet.

by raiders4liffe on Sep 26, 2011 9:26 AM PDT up reply actions Im walking on clouds after the win yesterday ?but I?m still pissed at all the negative comments in the game threads. Of course it?s ok to criticize but to start whining after 15 minutes and asking for DCs resignation is just dumb.

by PantyRaider on Sep 26, 2011 6:44 AM PDT up reply actions Umm... they are the game threads. Never take shit seriously from the threads. Everyone is in the heat of the moment. Nervous, angry, happy, it all happens in a game.

by BlackHeartSilverEyes on Sep 26, 2011 12:26 PM PDT up reply actions you should have heard the cussing in the stands after lt?s 70 yard gain against that ridiculous 11 man front defense, if you didn?t like the grousing online? heheh. all worth it in the end.

besides the win, the most satisfactory thing about the sellout crowd was the lack of green.. I kept hearing about the jets fabulous fanbase and how they?d have 20% of the crowd? well no fucking way. id say maybe 1 in 200 people were jet fans. great day at the coliseum.

by samiam2112 on Sep 26, 2011 11:28 AM PDT up reply actions An almost mirror image of last week In that we saw one great half, one not-so-great.

The first half was not making anyone happy, as the Jets were moving the ball well, and the Raiders, after their first possession, were not getting anything going. I wasn?t writing off the game, but I wasn?t feeling that confident about the second half either.

Then, just like last week, the second half was completely different than the first, and this time it was in a good way. Adjustments were made, and the Jets ran into a defense that we have seen glimpses of, but not consistently. The Jets struggled mightily in the second half, particularly in the third quarter, to move the ball. Three sacks in that quarter alone speak volumes of the difference between the halves.

The offense also came back to life, with an excellent mix of pass and run keeping the Jets defense on its heels, opening the door for long runs by McFadden. It isn?t necessary to connect a lot of deep shots to keep the run game open, as long as they are there, but you do have to connect on shorter routes, and this is exactly what Campbell did. Moore is looking better, although I thought that they were trying too hard to force him the ball in the first half; take what?s there, and it will open up eventually.

Both kickers had a great day, although coverage on one punt was not so special. Still, the unit more than made up for it with the fumble recovery that sealed the game.

I?d like to see more consistency, but am still glad to see that this team didn?t hang it?s head after last week?s debacle. They could have dogged it after another fugly half, but came out in the second half with the type of play that they are capable of. Regular improvement is the Holy Grail of every coach, and the team is showing that in their play, except for penalties.

by PantyRaider on Sep 26, 2011 7:28 AM PDT up reply actions as mentioned above, JC?s stats were not hot, however, he was clutch, never panicked, stayed poised, and move the ball. What doesn?t show up are 4 interference calls that keeps drives going. He tested Revis at least 4 times with deep balls that either DHB caught or no one. JC plays to win.

by raiders4liffe on Sep 26, 2011 9:30 AM PDT up reply actions That D we only see glimpses of is a D that is based in Zone. Once CJ left the game Bres did the first smart thing he has done all year and switch to a zone coverage for the majority of the rest of the game. It is amazing how much better we are when we play zone. Still give up a ton of yards but we are able to keep them out of the end zone. We play far too much man-man with a weak secondary and that?s why we only see glimpses of our D playing top notch.

by R8RFAN12 on Sep 26, 2011 10:07 AM PDT up reply actions I'd rather see a strong finish! That?s the sign of a Champion! Win the Championship rounds. Points allowed in the second half 7! Not there yeat but looking better than they have in a long time.

We would all like to see them dominate every play that may be a little unrealistic. They earned the win, they wore down the Jets O-Line, it is a war of attrition up front! They have played physical all year that another great sign to the future!

by samiam2112 on Sep 26, 2011 11:20 AM PDT up reply actions Looking Ahead: Houston plays Pitts at home and we get them the week after? That could be a good time for us if Pitts can beat the bastards up for us and give them 2 in a row? Then we come to their house and they be down for the count at 2-n-3???

Now the Jets travel to Baltimore Battered n Bruised so will likely drop that one for 2 in a row!!!?Glad we could be of assistance!!!?2-n-2 Jets tied with 2-n-2 Patsies!!!

by PantyRaider on Sep 26, 2011 7:55 AM PDT reply actions I rather just be concerned with what we need to do.... AFC games are very important, so next week game vs. NE is huge confidence booster. Big time play-off implications down the road. Yes, our main goal is to win the AFC West and to sweep all of the AFC West teams again, but to belong with the big boys, you must beat some of the big boys. NE is still one of the elite teams in the AFC. I still have them better than Pittsburg, Baltimore, Houston and if they?re at home, they?re better than Buffalo.

SD is over rated, Chefs have fallen and since Indy vacated a play-off spot this year, why can?t it be us? Check that, I want the AFC West Crown. Make other teams come to our house for the play-offs!

by anhdazman on Sep 26, 2011 8:08 AM PDT reply actions Jets fan here I can?t even make any excuses about yesterday. You guys just outplayed us in every way possible. I haven?t seen the Jets offense and defensive lines get manhandled like that since Rex took over as out coach. Congrats on the win. You guys have a scary rushing attack.

by Dylan87 on Sep 26, 2011 10:04 AM PDT up reply actions strong comment most of your brethren on GGN are blaming the refs, your OC, whoever?. the bottom line is that the raiders dominated the LOS all second half.

its hard to give the other team credit, I guess, when you?ve convinced yourself youre so much better that the only way you can lose is by choking.

by PantyRaider on Sep 26, 2011 9:04 AM PDT up reply actions The officiating was shaky on on both sides, but its definitely not the reason we lost The team that wins the battle at the LOS usually wins the game. Yesterday was no different. You guys should be excited about your team. Looks like the strategy of picking the biggest and fastest players every year might be finally paying off. The Raiders were too fast and physical for the Jets yesterday, which is something I never thought I would say.

I know the stats for him end up looking good, but a lot of that was at the end, and he was throwing to his all world receivers against a decimated raider secondary.

by spec on Sep 26, 2011 10:13 AM PDT up reply actions I was surpised we didn't get many flags There was a few times we actually got some borderline calls in our favor? Always freaks me out just not used to that!

by samiam2112 on Sep 26, 2011 11:21 AM PDT up reply actions Raider Nation, let's not forget our motto!!!! As for Raider Nation, stop whining and enjoy our wins. Nothing is perfect in the world, so really ask yourself, do you want a great statistical game with a loss or a ugly win? Have you guys forgotten our motto?

by BO_knows_MMA on Sep 26, 2011 8:59 AM PDT up reply actions Nice win Raiders! I want to be the modern day version of Super Mario Brothers!!! Dont care for *shrooms*, but would love to *get large* and *spit fire*...unless im constantly told "thanks, but your girl is in another castle". That would rate a 8.9 on the ole *Suck-ometer*!!!

I never at anytime during the preseason figured we wud be 2-1 going into the Pats game...huge playoff implications right now... I know its early, but winning these 2 games (NJ, NE..2 games i didnt figure we would win anyway) puts us ahead of the eightball, maybe even a 10-5 season which will definitely get us a a division win.

by Ghost Raider on Sep 26, 2011 10:53 AM PDT reply actions That pic up there Is that the play where the two Raiders crashed into Sanchez from either side?

by transparent58 on Sep 26, 2011 3:02 PM PDT up reply actions Reading through your bullet points I started to think of how badly Al Davis gets lambasted for his draft picks and signings ? and deservedly so at times (JaMarcus, anyone?). But damn if Oakland hasn?t assembled a roster of smashmouth OL/DL types, an impressive backfield and WR corps, as well as the best kicking game in NFL history (Hyperbole? Only maybe.). I really like this team.

by Name's Dalton on Sep 26, 2011 12:22 PM PDT reply actions Anyone have video of bush's 28yrd catch to set up jano game sealing FG? I?d love to see it, and I?

by transparent58 on Sep 26, 2011 3:21 PM PDT up reply actions a GREAT play by JC too dagger. He is really showing me something that I didn?t think he had.

Raiders worked out DB Ron Parker. He hails from Newberry College and ran a 4.28-second 40-yard dash. Not sure if he is going to be signed.

by samiam2112 on Sep 26, 2011 3:29 PM PDT up reply actions That's a questionable decision to say the least. If he?s not retained on the main squad. Will have to wait and see how it all works out.

by RyanTheRaider on Sep 26, 2011 3:26 PM PDT up reply actions very true It?s hard to know what goes into a decision at this level, and the coaches know what they need in a practice squad player, and in that sense you certainly yield to the coaching statt decisions. Sure Moore played well at times, but certainly not untouchable. For me it goes back to the scheme, which is why I was happy to see Walter MacFadden booted, some guys can play it and some guys can?t. I think with Moore, there was at least a hint he might be able to do it. Certainly nothing to get upset about, but a curious decision all the same.

by S Jay Bruin on Sep 26, 2011 3:31 PM PDT up reply actions Awwww WTF? Saw the guy may plays against 3rd stringers but plays nonetheless. He was only a rook?!?!

by RyanTheRaider on Sep 26, 2011 3:48 PM PDT up reply actions Well, next man up. Parker better be ready because Checkwa still needs work with his hips imo. He can?t cover that well. CJ being injured and DVD too is a big hole. We gonna get a heavy doese of Porter and maybe Check.

by JaggerJaw on Sep 26, 2011 3:51 PM PDT up reply actions Chekwa will be fine and i was very impressed with him in coverage. Needs to get his head around, and find the ball, but that?s about it, he?s more physical than DVD which will help on the bigger WRs. Won?t help much this week, though as the Pats WRs are smurfs compared to Plax. I?d try to use Chekwa on one of the stud TEs when they flex them out, especially if Mitchell and Huff can?t go. He?s better in coverage than Boyd or Giordano.

by transparent58 on Sep 26, 2011 3:55 PM PDT up reply actions You still wish they would have paid Cromartie 10 million? Now you know that he would have been a huge waste. Chekwa will do fine.

by duballers23 on Sep 26, 2011 4:00 PM PDT up reply actions Oakland Raiders Make New York Jets Look Slow, Weak and Old . love this heading Raiders actully bullied a bully. Hope everybody has forgotten about preseason that had doubts about this Raiders team.

For what it?s worth, I asked Jackson if he?s gotten any feedback from Al Davis on 2-1 start. Jackson: ?I would think he?s very excited.?

The bully being built by Raiders coach Hue Jackson resulted in broken nose for Jets QB Mark Sanchez, bruised lung for CB Antonio Cromartie.

by RyanTheRaider on Sep 26, 2011 3:26 PM PDT reply actions Wow no one is talking about the biggest improvement NO OFFENSIVE PENALTIES!

For once we didn?t beat ourselves on the field, and you can see the difference night and day. Had we been the same team that took the field against Denver we would have gotten our asses handed to us.

But we?re not, and while we still had a few questionable defensive penalties, we did the absolute best job on the line I?ve seen in many many years.

No one expected us to take it to the Jets like that. For damn sure nobody thought we could run the ball against them. We?ve had a history of being a great running team until we played a great defense, but I think we proved to ourselves and everyone else that those days are over. If we want to run the ball, WE WILL. And that wasn?t even McFadden doing it by himself. That young, inexperienced OL we have seems to be doing just fine.

We aren?t out of the woods yet. We got NE coming to town and I hope we can greet them with another sellout. When that stadium is packed and rocking like it was on Sunday there?s a clear home field advantage, something we haven?t been able to boast in awhile. Also with NE coming to town we are going to have our hands full defensively. I think they?re gonna spread the field on us but we won?t get caught with our pants down this time.

by TheDudeAbides138 on Sep 26, 2011 3:38 PM PDT reply actions Holy f*cking shit!! Madden 12 has roster updates every Friday and with DMC?s beast performance against the Jets he should be at least a 95 overall!! I?m also hoping Denarius gets bumped up to the 77-78 range.
