TweetGLOBAL ? Yesterday, we announced that Nokia Belle was making it to handsets across the globe on some of the already existing smartphone models, such as the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. Heaps of you had questions about the new software and we thought we?d try to bring you some answers, based on your comments. Vesa Jutila, Head of Symbian Product Marketing at Nokia, has responded.
We are still using Symbian Belle with some audiences like developers but now we also have the flexibility of using Nokia Belle when referring to our greatest and latest Symbian software update. We are really looking forward to making Belle available to people as it will truly bring a new experience to everybody.
For some of our readers, this February update still seems too far away. They were told they would receive the update in Q4 of 2011, then Jan of 2012, and now Feb. Why has there been a delay?
Nokia Belle will make such a big difference in the user experience, and it is a major software update. We are progressing well in bringing Belle with a new look and feel to millions people across the markets at the same time, and are anxiously looking forward to delighting our consumers with Nokia Belle.
We reckon it will be well worth the wait for such a major update. As to the question of why is this update now not available for the Nokia 500? Some good news.
I am happy to say that Nokia 500 will also be one of those devices receiving Nokia Belle along with Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia C6-01,Nokia C7, and Nokia Oro.
To all those who are asking for immediate Belle after hearing that new Nokia's will be shipped with Belle pre-installed, I've got a little explanation for you. It's not a small bug-fix update but a major one. So company [Nokia] has to make sure that your data like apps,contacts,messages etc. get migrated to the new OS and that too successfully. And besides that even Symbian Anna is yet to hit all regions. And maybe Nokia doesn't what to repeat this same thing again. So once everyone is at same level i.e. Anna it'd [Belle] be rolled out to each n every user at the same time.
Your very first answer,regarding name change from Symbian Belle to Nokia Belle created some questions in my mind. Belle is now officially Nokia OS for all phones, including some featurephones which run 1GHz processors? By 'flexibility' do you mean that even those 1GHz featurephones will also get Nokia Belle, since S40 is unable to use all that power? And please ellaborate on naming change, Symbian Belle->Nokia Belle? And how is it going to 'dramatically' affect the market, developers, carriers, end users/consumers? Please.
Now you have the flexibility to use the name Nokia Belle?? Why would you want that? Why would you want to confuse even more, why would you call the operating system Nokia??? It is Symbian and nothing else.
I'm using Belle on my N8 right now .. it's not that big of a difference, and it does not explain why you can release new Nokia N8's with Symbian Belle, and not an update for existing once.
There is no questions answered at all. Just a bunch of marketing speak trying to avoid actually giving out real answers to real questions.
I am waiting for belle for Q4 2011. But its too late in february. Please Tell Me About The Applications Update That Is Comming With Nokia Belle Update.
The N8 is a super cameraphone. I see the Belle devices are much better than previous and Anna and N8 is more than one year old, Will new image processing or better image quality come to N8?
Please try to improve notification light for nokia E6 with this update please do something like "remind me" app available on ovi store... which will be of great help.
I was eagerly waiting for belle to be released in Q4 2011 but Feb 2012 is very far.I am now happy because Vesa Jutila, Head of Symbian product in her lines told that they are progressing belle with a new experience. I am now waiting for the fully progressed belle.
