Herman Cain will never occupy the Oval Office, but he's become a popular figure on the campaign trail this fall, and as an African-American, his rebuttal to Morgan Freeman's controversial comments about the Tea Party carries some weight.
If you missed it, Freeman called the Tea Party racist on Piers Morgan Tonight Friday, criticizing the conservative movement's disdain for President Obama.
"Well, first of all, I doubt if Morgan Freeman, with all due respect, who's a great actor, has ever been to a Tea Party. Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Parties... about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party."
"I just think that it's sad that they're so short-sighted understanding what the Tea Party citizen movement is all about. I'm not offended by it, because it doesn't slow down my momentum. It doesn't slow down the reaction I get from people."
Cain, whose campaign is riding high after winning the Florida straw poll, added, "Name-calling is something that's going to continue, because they don't know how to stop this movement. And this movement is making a big difference in politics."
"A lot of the traditional Democrats are moving to the center or moving over to vote for conservatives. They're taking another look at a Herman Cain."
The tea party is against BIG government running our lives and taking away constitutional freedom as well as being against unfair taxes and is against the propaganda machine. Obama is awful, his politics are awful. Obama is an awful man. GO CAIN GO!!!!!!!
The real racism lies in the mouths of those who claim racism themselves. People like Morgan Freeman should keep his damn mouth shut. He's speaking to his liberal base and losing one fan, ME. What a dumb punk.
Those who complain about people who use this alleged "race card" should ask themselves why such a "card" is even needed. Things that make you go hmmm...
I am so sick of the race card being pulled out when it comes to conservative issues. These typical Hollywood libs need to stick to their day jobs and stay out of politics.
I am getting to like Mr Cain, the more I listen to him the more sense he makes. He could put Mr Freeman( ultra liberal racist himself) in his place if he wanted to. Go Mr Cain!
If we had a white president, racism wouldnt even be an issue concerning the TEA Party. But then it may be something else for people to bitch about. We all have the same thing in common about the TEA Party; we are being taxed too much. It doesnt make a difference if ur black or white during this. The issue at hand is all that matters.
The TEA Party isn't just for Conservatives and it's not made up of just Conservatives. I happen to know several Democrats who are part of the local TEA Party group here. The TEA Party is not a political party, but a movement of citizens who feel they have been "Taxed Enough Already". That's what "TEA" in TEA Party stands for. The "TEA" is an acronym. We don't care if you are black, brown, yellow, red or white, if you think you are taxed too much or you don't agree with the direction of the government, then the TEA Party is for you! We'd welcome you in to the fold!!
I am really disappointed with Morgan Freeman. I am white (apparently that means something to some) and supporter of the tea party movement. Most tea partiers I know are big supporters of Hermann Cain as I am also. Hmmmm, sorry, am I missing something here, Morgan. It's unfortunate to see you go the way of so many in Hollywood. Well, at least we still have Denzel, I think.
