The third-year receiver out of Abilene Christian suffered the injury when colliding with Seattle Seahawks defensive end Anthony Hargrove as both players dove for a loose ball.
After catching a pass from Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie during the first quarter of Chicago's Week 15 tilt with Seattle at Soldier Field, Knox had the ball knocked loose by Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor. Knox dove to recover the ball but had his back bent at an unnatural angle during the ensuing collision with Hargrove. Medical staff attended to him on the field for approximately 10 minutes before he was strapped to a stretcher, loaded onto a cart and then driven off the field. Knox gave a thumbs up as he was driven off the field and reportedly had feeling in all extremities following the game.
"He's out of course the rest of this year," coach Lovie Smith said in the team statement. "But just looking to the future, it looks bright for him to play and to get back out there, so we're encouraged by that."
The Chicago Tribune later reported that Knox had suffered a cracked facet joint. It remains unclear if Knox will be recovered by the time NFL training camps open next year.

Chicago is the city that works and we are by you all the way, next week Bears rise to victory a crushing win, break 'em left, run 'em right, leading the way to the Super Bowl even. 10:15 AM on 12/20/2011 It still amazes me that this does no happen more. Hope he has a speedy recovery and is smart enough to wakl away from football while he can still walk. If he was smart and took advantage of his college education, he should have a successful life.
