GOP candidate Mitt Romney was declared Nevada's winner on Saturday due in part to his popularity among Mormon voters. The Mormon vote, which made up 25 percent of the total electorate, heavily favored Romney, with 91 percent voting for the former Massachusetts Governor.
As King further discussed Romney's success among Mormon voters, he mistakenly referred to Romney as "Governor Mormon" instead of Governor Romney." King was using one of CNN's touch-screen, election gadgets that had multiple graphics of Romney's face accompanied with different religion names when he misspoke.
"As you look here among faith, obviously Governor Mormon is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He's a Mormon, and he won big among Mormons. He won nine out of every 10 votes among Mormons," King said.

God suffers some of the effects of human brokenness. In Jesus, God doesn't just come near. God doesn't just lend a hand. God experiences solidarity with those who suffer, taking their place.
Maybe this moment presents a chance for each of us to examine how we vote -- to be sure we exercise the privilege of choosing and speaking and writing with our own voices, loyal to our own concepts of freedom.
When the relationship between the religious and the secular is such as involves the complete dominance of one over the other, then it results in the curtailment of both religious and political freedoms.

01:07 AM on 02/07/2012 Those of the Christian faith who want to vote their faith only have one candiate who fits that bill. His name is Barack Obama. On the other hand, if they cherish their Republican party more than their faith, they will vote for Governor Mormon.
And I think this will be doubtful. If they think he could really win, then they will stay home. If they think that he does't have a chance, then they more likely will vote for him to protest Obama.
Lesser question: "Will Christians vote for Romney to win the Republican primary?". And the answer to this is "mostly"...because they know he can't win the national election.
06:54 PM on 02/06/2012 I sure wish the whole religion doesn't matter thing was applied to President Obama. He is a devout Christian who loves his family, the husband of one wife, and who rules his family well. Yet he has been called everything but a child of God. Governor Mormon is a bishop in the mormon church, a church which is founded by a man who had 48 wives. The grandchild of a man who still has a mormon ranch in Mexico, whose family left America to practice multiple marraiges, and moved back to America to flee the Mexican war, but mums the word. The Mormons also baptize d3@d people, bu mums the word. Oh beautiful for spacious skies....
02:41 PM on 02/06/2012 What does John King know? At least he didn't call that one Congressman from Massachusetts Barney (you figure it out)..
10:48 PM on 02/05/2012 You'd never guess by what he shares with the world that Mitt Romney is a mormon. Yet it is a fundemental element of his life and strongly defining in that faith paith. That kind of compartmentalzation is frightening.
09:20 PM on 02/05/2012 This is a news item that will disappear in a day or two. Only Republican gaffes are publicized for eternity. Democrats? On page 21 of the New York Times under the obituary section.
10:01 PM on 02/05/2012 Dems don't have to. The Rep's do nothing but talk about it. AND anyway- we couldn't possibly talk about his Mormon religion one quarter as much as the R's talk about Obama's SUPPOSEDLY being a Muslim. Paaaalllleeeze, give me a break!
10:45 PM on 02/05/2012 Election? I assume you mean nomination. I don't think his religion is an issue. Romney certainly doesn't think it's anything to talk about.
09:22 PM on 02/05/2012 An example of the ongoing liberal prejudice and hatred toward Mormons. America would not be split wide open, except for the bigoted statements by liberals.
01:58 AM on 02/06/2012 Seems that conservative evangelicals have an issue with Mitt's religion than anyone else. They constantly bring it up knowing it's a wedge issue.
Liberals - at least people like me, have a more live and let live approach. I don't really care what his religion is, just so long as he doesn't use to bash people with it.
