Massachusetts hospitals are poised to receive a $3.5 billion windfall in federal funding over the next 10 years thanks to a little-known provision Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) inserted into the Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act, also known as ?Obamacare.?
The increased funding ? $367 million a year in the form of Medicare reimbursement payments, according to the Federal Register?would not only come at the expense of hospitals in the 49 other states, but would also directly benefit an organization that has given generously to Kerry?s campaign.
The obscure policy change was formally approved by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in July 2011. It was prompted by a small, 15-bed hospital located on the upscale island of Nantucket, a popular vacation spot for wealthy New Englanders where Kerry and his wife own a $9 million waterfront home.

Lt Kerry served in the ?brown-water? Navy, a group that had plenty of combat action. Infantry and Marines are two groups of brave people and there are others.

I would like to talk, representing all those veterans, and say that several months ago in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command.
They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, tape wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.
And it?s also true that GWB had volunteered to fly combat missions in Viet Nam and been turned down by his commander?especially as combat operations in Viet Nam were drawing down.

When Kerry joined the brownwater boys, they were not doing much stuff on the rivers. it was a gravey detail. Shortly after he got assigned, they chenged mission and began missions deep into the country. Right after the change, Kerry got put in, or put himself in for three purple hearts and a transfer out. Talk about cowardice.
As for Bush and the 102, bing Palace Guard. Bush joined the Air Guard to follow in the foot steps of his father a naval aviator. At the time, the guard was the fast track to wings. Bush?s problem was that given the nature of the beast, pilots were required to have 500 hours flight time to go over. A casual look at his hours woill show that he spent a lot of time aloft, and got the required time, and then reapplied. he was turned donw the second time because the Air Force was transitioning away from the 102 and they were no longer considered fit for front line service.
Bush ended his carreer off flight status because his unit was transitioning to a new air craft, and since he was a short timer it would have been a waste of time to train him on the newer plane. Also the Guard was swamped with requests for positions from pilots being transitioned OFF active duty as the war effort wound down. Keep in mind, no pilots in Vietnam were drafted. Thewy were volunteers to a man, and every one of them was in the hunt for a stick position instead of a chair.
I personally know several Viet Nam era pilots (some of whom I work with daily) who will attest to the fact that the 102 was the most dangerous platform the AF ever had in it inventory.
