?For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.? John 3:

Many would agree, the most well-known verse in the Bible. The first time I became conscious of it was while watching a football game on TV, circa 1975. There was this guy in the crowd with a rainbow colored afro, who held a sign up which read ?JOHN 3:16?. I asked my dad, what does that mean? Who is that guy?

Over time, I began to recognize him at tennis matches, football games and other major sports events. Some Bible guy, I concluded. Seemed happy enough, I liked the rainbow hair. A harmless nutcase like my dad said. Forgot about him.

35 years later, I understand what the guy was doing with his sign. He was sharing the Gospel with millions, including me. He was planting a seed which sat dormant for many years. Many more such nuts would cross my path over time:

People knocking on my door because they actually cared about me. They had the sense I was lost, and they were correct. So they came back next week to share good news. The good news contained in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The good news found in John 3:16.

When you are with Christ it is interesting to look back at the people who planted the seeds for your homecoming to the Lord. Now through the Grace of God you become the sower of seeds for others. God Bless your wonderful work! By the way, I love this scripture also.

Great testimony! That verse can seem "outdated" or "overused" especially since it is used so much in church. But when we look at it with new, fresh eyes, it can be overwhelming!
