Todd Palin's statement on The Rogue, Joe McGinniss's biography of Sarah Palin, resurrects an old chestnut from the 2010 furor that came when McGinniss moved into the house next door to his subject.
Joe's son told the media he advised his dad not to move from the East Coast to become our next door neighbor, but said his dad "was just waiting for Todd to be out of the picture."
That was a quote Joe McGinniss, Jr., gave to Ben Smith. It was also a joke. I talked to McGinniss, Sr., after reading the book for an article that will appear later today, and asked him about Todd's accusation.
"I loved it!" said McGinniss. "It sounds like Todd actually didn't understand that Joe was making a joke. Is Todd seriously worried that I had designs on his wife? Really? It's more of the same. Fortunately, the book is available now, so anyone can see that it's a joke."
"So racist Todd Palin," says McGinniss, Jr., "who used to enjoy terrorizing, beating and calling the only African-American student in his high school the n-word, doesn't get the joke? Shocker. East Coast establishment Whole Foods humor doesn't translate well into Teabonics?"
On the Facebook update: "I'm old school. John Starks, Rex Chapman, Glenn Rice were among my basketball heroes. But I only recently went looking for him to add to my favorite athlete page."
