Here is the scenario. It is late, you?re suddenly desperate for a movie to watch so that you have some way of justifying finishing off the last half of a bag of Tyrell?s crisps. And then from some abyss, like a Lovecraftian Deity, Hostel III emerges. You think: Fuck it, why not?
The quality of the direct-to-DVD movie is now legendary. Legendary for its crap dialogue from actors that have no business calling themselves such all nicely wrapped up in a god-awful story (should there happen to be one).
It tones down the gore somewhat extremely (most likely due to having next to no budget) and stand head and shoulders above the rest of direct-to-DVD offerings by actually having a not-too-shabby plot. With twists.
But don?t let this single fact lure you into thinking it anything other than a one star movie. The dialogue is as crap as ever and the actors still have no business calling themselves such. But for a good brain-off at 2am movie, it stands head and shoulders above the rest of the direct-to-DVD DVD?s.
