1 hour ago( 2:06 PM) From a purely commercial viewpoint, it is cheaper to kill off the birds. The loss in tourism due to just a scare easily overwhelms the cost of the chickens.

I would be willing to bet that someone that is in charge of chinas CDC has a link to someone who is in charge of inoculations or some other interest in making bird flu a scare. Money to be made here folks. What do people buy? Masks? Beef? Who wins if we scare people away from chickens or cause fear by saying disease is present. And why the heck does all this stuff always start in hong kong?
