Complete stupidity. Openly gay military personnel are a huge liability in the military. Not to mention the ultra-conservative environment they will be serving in.
Example? 1989 explosion in the number 2 turret on the USS Iowa. A gay crew-member angry at his advances rejected by straight crew-members detonated explosives in the turret, killing himself along with 46 other sailors. Some sources state that the guy was in an relationship with another sailor and after it went south, he started fishing around.
Seriously, all the politicians who?ve worked to repeal DADT have never served in the military; never had to deal with the subject. They want votes, and the liberal population is large, so they cater to them.
That so-called survey of military members was completely rigged. They had units on there listed at surveyed, but when contacted, unit personnel say that they weren?t even spoken to. They could have done this without lying and committing federal crimes. Obviously, the government doesn?t care.
Since DADT is gone from September 20th, I?d like to see what happens to openly gay personnel in the Marine Corps. NJPs through the roof for non-isolated hazing incidents. So-called ?hate-crimes? against homosexuals.
I feel uncomfortable at the thought of men looking at my body with sexual interest. I am not sure if I want to join anymore.Gossip Queen answers:
I am lesbian and my thing about it is I won?t tell if you don?t ask but we should be allowed to live with and be married to whom we choose. The policy should cover the dont ask dont tell and that only we should be allowed to live normal civilian lives if we serve in the military. Truth be told if you were in danger would u care if i was gay, lesbian, blue or black u would want me to save you.
I hear what your saying but why shouldnt we be allowed to fight for our country and for you to have the right to vote. I think if i?m fighting for you to have that right then I should at least have that respectGossip Queen answers:
Now that its been repealed what kind of drastic affect will that have on the straight men and women of the military? A lot of straight people aren?t gonna feel right sleeping and showering with gay people and that can lead to a lot of problems. Not to mention it could be a distraction during training and being on the field.Gossip Queen answers:
It already happened. The bill to outlaw banning Gays from the military passed today and is on it?s way to President Obama?s desk. He will probably sign it Monday.
Since Obama wants to repeal DADT will that mean that you WILL be asked about your sexual orientation? Will it mean that you WILL be asked and you CAN serve regardless of if you are a homosexual or not? I?m not clear on it?will it be like before when you were asked and if you were gay you couldn?t serve?or will it just be that you won?t be asked and can?t get kicked out for being gay?Gossip Queen answers:
No. That won?t be asked at all. It will have nothing to do with the selection process. If it?s found out later that you are, then again, nothing will legally happen to you.
I am a straight woman, but have thought much about this issue of repealing current policy toward gays in the military. I remember my drill instructor in boot camp was obviously gay and she supervised the showers. I was not comfortable with this, but felt I had no right to complain because in boot camp you have no rights and generally you are pretty young and naive. I told a gay friend about this and she pointed out that just because she is gay doesn?t mean she wanted me or any other recruit. I suggested a male supervising the showers may not be attracted either, but there is a reason why men and women don?t ?supervise? each other in the showers.
If the policy is repealed, will there not be rampant sexual harassment lawsuits? What solution would they have for the barracks/shower situation, which can arise in different situations after boot camp, such as deployment or perhaps submarine or ship duty. Will there have to be separate quarters for male and female gays?
Perhaps the don?t ask don?t tell policy is the best one so that gays can serve in the military without creating major havoc. I understand the gay rights issue, but what about the rights of other service members? What kind of backlash against gays will there be when the armed forces is thrown into chaos over this? Will I as a taxpayer have to fork over money to straight service members who sue, or is the military exempt? If the military is exempt, are you not violating straight service members? civil rights to force them to take showers with gays?
I mean no harm or disrespect, but the military will have to jump through hoops to accommodate everyone and work overtime to prevent the lowering of morale. They are in a real rough spot because of militant gay rights people in my opinion.
P.S. Do I not have a right to serve my country without worry that a man or a lesbian is checking me out in the shower or in my undies before climbing into bed?Gossip Queen answers:
If a person is not strong enough to handle being around gays then they aren?t strong enough to be in the military. Seriously, anyone that?s upset because gays are finally getting some of the same rights as straights is pretty spoiled or has a warped view of the world.
[edit in response to your post script] You DO have the right to serve your country without worrying, but that?s the thing; it?s YOUR choice if you worry or not. And don?t be so arrogant, not every gay women wants you.
