Singapore?s Crescent Girls School was one of only six institutions in Asia to receive Regional Intel Teach School Awards at a ceremony held in Jakarta on Monday, December 5, 2011. This awards programme, according to Intel executives, is meant to give due recognition to schools in Asia ?that have demonstrated excellence in technology integration, creativity and innovation,? and that have set up and maintained environments ?where the use of ICT and innovative practices has resulted in creative and practical outcomes that have had an observable impact on the students and community.?
There were two categories of awards?one for institutions in mature markets, the other for those in emerging markets?and three classes of awards: Gold, which came with a US$5,000 technology grant; Silver, a US$3,000 technology grant; and, Bronze, US$2,000. The following is the complete lineup of winners, as chosen by a panel comprising UNESCO staff, educators, and experts on the use of technology in education, after an exhaustive evaluation process involving telephone and face-to-face interviews.
