(CBS) ? Blake Griffin took charge in the second half, scoring 20 of his 30 points after halftime, leading the Clippers to a 108-103 win over the Lakers on Wednesday night at Staples Center.
Both teams played with a lot of intensity, which is uncommon for a preseason game, and things almost got out of control when Matt Barnes was called for a flagrant foul one when he shoved Griffin to the ground. He was not ejected.
The Lakers were without Kobe Bryant, who missed the game with a sprained ligament in his wrist, he is listed as day-to-day, but his status for the Christmas Day opener against the Bulls is in question.
Looking for scoring without Bryant, Andrew Bynum picked up his game, scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while Steve Blake hit five 3-pointers, and scored 18 points.
?I enjoyed coaching these guys tonight. Obviously we didn?t take care of the ball, but I was excited about a lot of what we did tonight,? Lakers head coach Mike Brown said.
