by JockstrapNoah on Dec 26, 2011 9:40 AM CST up reply actions I love how Fisher just doesn't even factor into that... They needed Chris Paul bad.

by ThorCo on Dec 25, 2011 10:42 PM CST up reply actions More like Deng bailout... I love Rose as much as the next Bulls fan but that was Luol who was the key factor. He got fouled and hit the two key FTs, had the steal on Gasol and blocked Kobe?s last shot.

"We would look at each other with a glint of recognition and one of us would say, 'So you worry about ASIK, too,' as if admitting a secret vice. Then we would share our crazy ideas-- because all ideas about ASIK that are not immediately wrong turn out to be crazy."

by Reaver on Dec 25, 2011 8:03 PM CST up reply actions Really? We saw that about 20 times last season. Thibs? D>>>>>>>>>>>>Steve Blake, Devin Ebanks and Troy Murphy.

so what? the bulls had soe many non-called fouls and the bulls missed their free throws like the lkaers if anything, the bulls deserve this game.

by windycitywarrior on Dec 25, 2011 8:54 PM CST up reply actions Lakers choked, Rose and Deng are awesome. "The flames on his pants looked way too.... Bam Bam Bigelow-y."

by Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. on Dec 26, 2011 4:56 AM CST up reply actions Korver and Hamilton were useless, Bulls still won. Bring back Bogans!

Deng and Noah were huge defensively at the end, the offense was awful as expected. Way too many turnovers and missed shots at the rim. I liked some of the new sets they ran. Nice off-ball movement for the guards, some decent plays for Boozer. Main thing is they need time to gel and CJ/Korver have to not suck.

by Brigade17 on Dec 25, 2011 8:04 PM CST up reply actions I think they need to run more screens and plays for Korver He needs to get in a rhythm and that?s not happening when he comes in for random spurts and gets off only one shot every time he?s on the court.

by lowkeyman on Dec 25, 2011 8:07 PM CST up reply actions butler needs to get a shot if this bs continues ppl were saying jimmy wont get any mins this yr, but if korver continue this bs, jimmy will def gobble up korver mins.

by tuluse on Dec 25, 2011 10:53 PM CST up reply actions They didn't run a single play for him. He took a bunch of bailout shots. Maybe CJ should stop dribbling around like a dumbass and actually call a play. I?m not going to lose sleep over a bad shooting night from Korver.

by Ozzie Montana on Dec 25, 2011 8:14 PM CST up reply actions they were running some of the same sets as last year he just wasn?t open.

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 25, 2011 8:49 PM CST up reply actions Its been 10 straight bad shooting games I have officially left the Fuck Rondo camp for the more exciting Fuck Lebron camp.

by sin on Dec 25, 2011 8:08 PM CST up reply actions 3 recs Boozer was rolling at one point in the 1st half his problem is he never seems to score unless the play is run for him.

by Khalid El-Amin on Dec 25, 2011 8:49 PM CST up reply actions 4 recs A win over the lakers in LA..... ?..isn?t easy. I?ll take it!

by Ozzie Montana on Dec 25, 2011 8:20 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs i think it was a combo of nerves and overconfience it seemed liek they really panicked in the third quarter. Hopefully thatll be fixed by tomorrow.

by Geo4MVP on Dec 25, 2011 8:21 PM CST up reply actions i don't want to go crazy overreacting to this game but i did not like jo and asik combined 4-17 from the field. And most of those shots are in the paint at the rim. Both guys get good position on the block, but neither guy is comfortable scoring in the post. Either stop shooting or learn to make a 3 ft shot.

Asik has this weird tendency to bring the ball down no matter what and then if it doesn?t get stripped on the way up he manages to loose control at some point in the process. If he corrects that his effectiveness will skyrocket.

by Rose Colored Goggles on Dec 26, 2011 1:19 AM CST up reply actions Is everyone ready to agree that Noah is overrated??? Hopefully they can include him in a trade for Howard before the Magic realize this.

And if you think Howard would sign a long term contract with the Bulls then you know something every sportswriter and even casual NBA fan doesn?t.

Keep in mind that sportswriters don't know everything. I just have a suspicion that Orlando is waiting for Noah to become available.

Plus Howard is supposedly friends with Rose because they work for the same shoe company. And Howard would have a chance to win a championship with the Bulls. The weather is just as bad in New York. Stern won?t let Howard go to the Lakers.

Ok, I'll admit to being a conspiricy guy. But I?m not the only person who thinks that the NBA is run like the WWE. If Stern is against something it usually doesn?t happen.

It's great to see a true believer in the purity of the NBA. I?m done now. You can have the last comment. I was just trying to see what people thought anyway. Not really interested in name calling and a flame war.

by Khalid El-Amin on Dec 25, 2011 9:25 PM CST up reply actions Also, it's very easy to say there is some massive conspiracy in the NBA where Stern is somehow "allowing" players to move about... But you are only saying that because you don?t understand the circumstances of the Chris Paul/New Orleans situation where Stern ACTUALLY had authority to make that decision.

But if you want to keep going I?ll definitely bite? Why exactly does Stern NOT want Howard on the Lakers? Furthermore, HOW exactly can he orchestrate his evil will in this endeavor?

by Khalid El-Amin on Dec 25, 2011 9:29 PM CST up reply actions Noah can be traded currently. Your theory is not only incoherent, but founded on incorrect notions.

by ThorCo on Dec 25, 2011 10:48 PM CST up reply actions Sorry, one more comment. You are right, Adidas wouldn?t want them together in the same city. But they are supposed to be good friends from working together on commercials and promotional tours.

by bobslob on Dec 25, 2011 9:44 PM CST up reply actions Noah didn't seem to show up last year in the playoffs. I love his attitude and hustle but he?s gotta perform.

by Belize on Dec 25, 2011 9:12 PM CST up reply actions Is this a really weird way of stating that Asik has better defense than Noah?

There are the guys who get you the need baskets," says Bulls reserve forward Brian Scalabrine, referring to the vital hoops that stop runs and close out games. "I have a different word for killers. I call them mother-------. And right now, Derrick Rose is the baddest mother------ in the league by far. He is the reason we win.

Noah stepped out on Kobe late in the fourth quarter at the three point line to cause a turnover. Asik is better at protecting the rim (although Noah seems to come up with important stops regularly there), but no way Asik could have done what noah did on that play.

by bobslob on Dec 25, 2011 8:57 PM CST up reply actions NO I have officially left the Fuck Rondo camp for the more exciting Fuck Lebron camp.

by ChiTownBallz on Dec 26, 2011 8:45 AM CST up reply actions If Korver doesn't show up or ends up in the Thibs doghouse, we are really short one shooter.

But I?m not going to complain about that one. Any time you win at LAL it?s a great win. Great way to start the modified circus trip.

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 25, 2011 9:01 PM CST up reply actions I assume he's someone who knows nothing. Which, of course, is why ESPN pays him to tweet shit.

by jpx7 on Dec 25, 2011 9:44 PM CST up reply actions He really does need to get a little smarter though I?m not trying to hate at all. I love that dude, hes the main reason I get so excited to watch Bulls games. It just gets a little frustrating because you see the incredible talent level. Not going to the line once is unacceptable. Plus he still has issues with running the offense. He takes the easy pass way too often. He needs to be able to probe a bit more, and position/lead the team better.

by Trey23 on Dec 25, 2011 9:14 PM CST up reply actions Through the preseason and this game I feel he has shown flashes of being able to manipulate a defense. Just nothing consistent or substantial. I feel his defense manipulation (or the application of bball iq)

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 25, 2011 9:20 PM CST up reply actions I disagree in part Rose does need to get smarter, but bitching about ft attempts in this game simply shows you don?t know what you are talking about. Rose scored 22 on 13 shots. That is what, 82% ts? On a 22 point game! Getting to the line by forcing the issue us going to sacrafice his body. Rose will need to get to the line if his shots are not falling early in the game. FTs don?t win basketball games. Rose was not perfect today, but complaining about FTs on an extremely efficient day for him is just stupid.

Dude, fuck off. Nobodies complaining. It?s a discussion. If you can?t handle someone saying something remotely negative about your man crush, than you need to find a new hobby.

by jpx7 on Dec 25, 2011 9:46 PM CST up reply actions I was reacting to being called stupid, not to his rebuttal Actually I think he made a pretty good point.

MY point with the free throws, was not necessarily about the lack of them, but that they were indicative of the type of game he played today. I?ll agree that it was probably somewhat unfair considering he had his jumper going, but we have seen this with Rose in the past, so I don?

by Juiceboxjerry on Dec 25, 2011 10:09 PM CST up reply actions DRose1 drinks a lot of coffee and it shows. its lunacy to be disturbed by one game, but two things seem strange to me. 1) why cant any of the bigs finish around the rim? 2) this is a meaningless quibble, but derricks ambition is weird to me. you havent played on tv in 6 months. its opening day. in LA. against the lakers. on christmas. literally millions of people are watching. i kind of feel like a normal reaction for a guy like derrick would be to go completely nuts kind of like lebron did today. this did not happen. it also means absolutely nothing going forward, but it is weird to me.

"We would look at each other with a glint of recognition and one of us would say, 'So you worry about ASIK, too,' as if admitting a secret vice. Then we would share our crazy ideas-- because all ideas about ASIK that are not immediately wrong turn out to be crazy."

Derrick did what many, including Juice, always complained about He looked for his teammates early, he was efficient as hell, and he was the best player on his team when it mattered most which was the end. It?s not Rose fault that bigs can?t finish around the rim or that his SG got in early foul trouble.

This is what Rose is going to have to do in order for this team to win a ring and he knows this. I?ve never understood the infatuation with Rose and free throw attempts. If he?s the size of Lebron or Kobe?fine. But we?re talking about preserving a PG here. I have no problem with his improvement at the outside shot and taking over when he needs to.

Some of the same people that have a problem with Rose?s lack of aggression would be complaining if they never saw MJ in his early years and only saw him from ?91 and forward and wondered why a guy with such talent is ?deferring? to Bill Cartwright early on and John Paxson late. Rose isn?t winning a ring by going nuts every game.

by Dils on Dec 26, 2011 9:12 AM CST up reply actions 1 recs I agree He?s trying to work on getting others involved, he said so to Lisa Salter. In the end that?ll pay greater dividends than forcing himself to the line.

But whatever, I really don?t want to make this an anti-D Rose thing, because I?m truly not bothered or concerned by this performance.

by DRose01 on Dec 25, 2011 9:36 PM CST via Android app up reply actions I thought overall his floor game was fine but he was awful in the open court, which is pretty rare. He had at least 2 or 3 turnovers that should have been layups or assists. My problem is early on in the game they took way too long to get into their sets. The bench mob came at the end of the quarter, pushed the tempo and took the lead. Lakers did play great D on Rose, they threw at least 2 bodies on him every time.

by Ozzie Montana on Dec 25, 2011 9:40 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs he doesnt seem to get that letting other guys get "theirs" in the first quarter doesnt mean "do absolutely nothing". "We would look at each other with a glint of recognition and one of us would say, 'So you worry about ASIK, too,' as if admitting a secret vice. Then we would share our crazy ideas-- because all ideas about ASIK that are not immediately wrong turn out to be crazy."

by TheMoon on Dec 26, 2011 2:07 AM CST up reply actions agreed on him needing to run the offense better but as long as the light goes on by the eastern conference finals against Miami I don?t care. He?s got the whole season and two playoff rounds to finally get there as far as I?m concerned.

by Judge Mental on Dec 26, 2011 4:37 AM CST up reply actions forget the triple team, its better defenders overall. flip it, if Kobe goes up against Laker defenders, he makes the shot he took. If Rose goes up against Deng/Noah/Gibson, he misses.

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 25, 2011 9:19 PM CST up reply actions Also, he's not at the tail end of his career with zero resemblance of an athletic game. How many times did Kobe try to draw fouls with a quick jab-step or pump fake and the Brewer/Deng/Hamilton just stood their ground? They know he can?t blow by them anymore.

by jpx7 on Dec 25, 2011 9:49 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs the whole idea is to make those shots numnuts(not you smurf) this Justin guy he sure has a bone to pick.

by Kiorrik on Dec 26, 2011 5:46 AM CST up reply actions Just rewatched the last couple minutes and we were down by 6 with under a minute left, and Luol Deng literally made EVERY play other than the Rose (amazing) shot. Free throws, a steal, an and 1, a huge rebound, and finally a block on Kobe for the game winner. He was silly good.

by JustAnotherFan on Dec 26, 2011 6:09 AM CST up reply actions had fresh legs for playmaking late in the game. though you would hope he had fresh legs in the first game of the season.

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 25, 2011 9:33 PM CST up reply actions Luol is doing his part becoming the Pippen Rose needs so bad He had a fantastic game, imo ? And that?s because he was missing 3s he can make often.

by Yibs on Dec 25, 2011 11:58 PM CST via mobile up reply actions 2 recs Since it needs to be said more... We also would not have won this game without Boozer, and Taj looked like shit. Can we stop the ?START TAJ!? pleas now?

by wrigleyrocker12 on Dec 25, 2011 10:03 PM CST reply actions 2 recs I dunno if it's been noted, but the Bulls are 1-0 when RIP scores at least 6 points, lol!

by windycitywarrior on Dec 25, 2011 10:14 PM CST up reply actions 4 recs should've kept bogans for the double magic Happy end of the fiscal fourth quarter to all!

Not at all. He was actually working out at the LA Fitness I work out it at in Highland Park during the lockout and he?s in great shape. He usually was there with his brother and a girl that I think was his GF. He was there regularly so I know for a fact he was getting in plenty of workouts this offseason.

by BlackStar on Dec 25, 2011 11:01 PM CST reply actions man, if the clips aren't like a 5 seed or better VDN is going to get shit-canned again. VDN, here is an idea Paul and Griffin pick and rolls. And no more 3 guard sets. This isn?

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 25, 2011 11:08 PM CST up reply actions During a timeout Paul was talking to the players, VDN came over and started talking, Paul looked at VDN and said something, VDN shut up, Paul continued to direct the timeout.

Good one Yah, Vinnie was given some very good players, Clips have 5 all-stars on their roster, Chauncey Billups, Caron Butler, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and Mo Williams. If Paul is player/coach, this could be a very tough team to play against. And, Vinnie sucks.

by macdren on Dec 26, 2011 5:50 AM CST up reply actions I was worried twice today Once when the Heat were up 35. Man I thought WOW they figured it out. then I was relieved when I saw the Mavs just starting to get over the hangover and the Heat is the same team as last year. Then when the Bulls went down 10. I was in an angry mood but the league MVP bailed us out. As my 12 year old son said to me after the game ?Freaking Epic?

by lshaffer_69 on Dec 25, 2011 11:06 PM CST reply actions I'm elated we won with a fantastic finish. But I?m having a problem celebrating this game as a whole. We could complain about the refs, sometimes they sure seemed to have an agenda of keeping the game close rather than simply calling fouls. But you knew that would happen at LA?s house. I don?t think at all there was anyone to blame other than the Bulls playing sluggish, out of sync, and simply cold shooting. I guess you have to expect that with limited practice and limited preseason games. I sure hope we can turn it around soon?that was painful to watch for long spells in the second half. We have the talent and the strategy to play much better D obviously?I sure hope we can learn to play better offense with Rip on the team soon.

i watched at least parts of the first three games played ? they were definitely full of sloppy play. it?ll get better for everyone. well, until the fatigue from the shortened season sets in. :

I didn?t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi?s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I?m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

by JustAnotherFan on Dec 26, 2011 6:17 AM CST up reply actions Rose was 9-13 from the field I?m not complaining about his efficiency in this game.

Especially in contrast to the opening game last year. Which featured Rose shooting 35 shots. He?s starting the season off much differently than last year.

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 26, 2011 9:47 AM CST up reply actions lost in the Deng and Rose love... I thought Booz played a lot better than what his stats showed. Sure, he missed a ton of free throws and still got lost on defense, but I saw a few instances where he actually showed on picks properly, and was able to limit a few Laker plays. Plus he got a steal and block!

by NerdVernacular on Dec 26, 2011 9:20 AM CST up reply actions Booz' matchup didn't have a career night I see some improvement on defense although I wished he rebounded a little bit better.

by JustAnotherFan on Dec 26, 2011 6:37 AM CST reply actions i remember the game i think 2 seasons ago vs cleveland (not opener but very early in the season) where deng blocked lebron?s game winning shot.

by JLbuLL on Dec 26, 2011 8:32 AM CST reply actions Assessment on RIP? I was only able to catch bits and pieces of the game?was the foul trouble his main culprit or was it a combination of things? Looks like the Bulls offense must have gone to complete shit in the third and most of the fourth quarter after a pretty good first half.

by DRose01 on Dec 26, 2011 9:05 AM CST via Android app up reply actions I know I am the only fan here... That liked Noah taking those shots. I think he can give the Bulls 12-14 pts per night. I think his aggressiveness on the offensive end will make opposing Centers work and take more load off Pooh. I think he will make more and just had an off night.

by ChiTownBallz on Dec 26, 2011 9:19 AM CST reply actions I also love the new DRose... He is more under control, patient and relaxed. He doesn?t look hurried or anxious and only got aggressive when the game was getting out of hand. I see some comments about him not getting FTs but I think this will be better in the long run. He will have fresher legs and be less banged up come playoff time when we really need him.
