Wesley Morgan Paraham | Posted on Feb 14th This is probably the first year I?ve ever said, ?Man, I REALLY want to go to Bonnaroo!?
What I hate: It does not differ too much from Coachella or Sasquatch. Last year I would have gone to all 3; this year, I just do not see the point, same big bands (with the exception of the Beach Boys). Even the bands that differ just feel like their version of other festivals: Bad Brains instead of Buzzcocks (yeah yeah, I know they are different, but going with the old time punk theme), Mogwai instead of Explosions in the Sky.
What I love: This is still a fantastic festival, and the bands that do differ from the above two festivals are worth seeing, especially White Denim and The Antlers, both bands are just awesome live (and in general). Also, few people have the money to go to festivals across the US, so this is an awesome festival for those living on the East Coast.
Wesley Morgan Paraham | Posted on Feb 14th If I were you, a person able to afford to go to THREE music festivals in one year, I would buy thousands of pillows, chairs, and blankets and build a fort-town.
Alex Manning | Posted on Feb 14th +1 for Coachella post-hardcore. I am ridiculously excited to see Refused, especially because they say they are going to play A New Shape of Punk in its entirety. Regardless, this has some pretty great bands that Coachella does not have, such as White Denim, The Antlers, and War on Drugs (who was just meh when I saw them live sadly, hopefully they are better).
Tommy O'Rourke | Posted on Feb 14th Darondo. If this isn?t your favorite part of this line up, then you haven?t heard his music. Fucking shocked when I read that.
Yet here I am, five years after my retirement, staring at the lineup and sending texts to old friends about possibly renting an RV. Perhaps it?s because for the first time I can remember, I have a genuine interest in seeing all three headlines (Thank god for no Widespread Panic). Maybe, although I?m bound to be disappointed, I?d be lying if I were to say that I?m not geeked out about seeing Brian Love play with the Beach Boys. Maybe, because, holy shit, Black Star is playing!!! Mabye because the last time Radiohead played in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee on a warm June night it was by far the best concert I?ve ever been to. Whatever it is, I?m tempted.
Nick Degel | Posted on Feb 14th Would you be offended if I said I didn?t make it past ?Bonna-Through?? The thumps seem to suggest that you made a great point.
(Also, how the hell do people do drugs and drink at these things? I brought a big thing of liquor with the intent of polishing it off, and I didn?t even touch it, it was too damn hot.)
Nicholas Brandt | Posted on Feb 16th yuppies don?t play frisbee anymore. now they just get in the way when the hippie chicks are hula hooping.
Lucas Gillan | Posted on Feb 14th Pitchfork and Lollapalooza had better have some awesome line-ups this year, because I live about 10 minutes from both of them. It would seem ridiculous to make the effort and investment in going to any other festival when two of them happen so close to me. That said, all of these fests so far look so good! Come on, Chicago fests, please please don?t suck. I?m stuck with you.
Wesley Morgan Paraham | Posted on Feb 14th Pitchfork Festival is usually all the stuff they liked from Coachella. I think you?ll be fine.
Wesley Morgan Paraham | Posted on Feb 14th This was meant for Lucas above me. Apparently I can?t click correctly. Damn laptop trackpad.
