Lotus has decided to tease its offering at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, but unlike most other automakers, it's done so using words instead of heavily cropped product shots. Rather cryptically, Lotus says it's going to "blow the roof off" the Geneva show, and the press release includes thumbnail-size photos of a sunburned bald man, a bikini top and some sunscreen.
Sounds like a convertible is in the offing. If that is indeed the case, we'd put our money on a droptop version of the company's Evora. We'll have to wait for the Geneva show to kick off on March 6, 2012, before we know for sure, but in the meantime, feel free to read the brief press release after the break.
Good for lotus for expanding their offerings. Hopefully not much weight is gained with increased structure. Maybe add a factory rollbar too?
Same here, I test drove an Evora S this weekend. Such a great car and it looks like they keep improving it year after year. I wouldn't get a droptop version but I can't wait to see what it looks like.
My Lotus dealer only has the standard Evora model. Did you feel much difference between the super charger and the standard? Seems like prices are pretty good on 2011 stock, but not sure if I'm ready to take the plunge. i have a 370Z now and it is a very good performer, but the handling of the lotus is seductive and seems to have over all good power to weight.
I have only driven the S model so I can't compare. I will try to test drive an NA model to see if the S is really worth the extra $15-20k it seems to add. I'm really curious to see what MY2012 offer in terms of build quality improvements.
What really surprised me was how comfortable the car was over rough road. I'm in an SLK with AMG sport suspension and it is very harsh over bumpy roads. The Evora just glided right over and the steering response, holy cow.
If you put your thumb over the roof of a picture of the Evora, it looks pretty damn sexy. Can't wait to see it, sigh, and immediately become depressed I can't afford it.
