She was an amateur surfer on track to be on top of her sport when tragedy struck unexpectedly. One day while out surfing as she normally did, Bethany was attacked by 14-foot tiger shark and lost her arm. Resilient and courageous, her fear of never surfing again was greater than her fear of sharks and she was back in the just water 1 month (yes, no joke) after the attack. After a couple of years worth of training and re-learning how to surf with one arm, she turned pro and is now a contender and highly respected and talented surfer with real skills despite what she would consider a small set back.
