She continues: "The media?s reticence on the subject no doubt has several sources. One may be fear of provoking additional violence. Another is most likely the influence of lobbying groups such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ? a kind of United Nations of Islam centered in Saudi Arabia ? and the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Over the past decade, these and similar groups have been remarkably successful in persuading leading public figures and journalists in the West to think of each and every example of perceived anti-Muslim discrimination as an expression of a systematic and sinister derangement called 'Islamophobia' ? a term that is meant to elicit the same moral disapproval as xenophobia or homophobia."
More: "But a fair-minded assessment of recent events and trends leads to the conclusion that the scale and severity of Islamophobia pales in comparison with the bloody Christophobia currently coursing through Muslim-majority nations from one end of the globe to the other. The conspiracy of silence surrounding this violent expression of religious intolerance has to stop. Nothing less than the fate of Christianity ? and ultimately of all religious minorities ? in the Islamic world is at stake."
After outlining anti-Christian violence throughout the Muslim world across various continents, Ms. Hirsi Ali continues her commentary: "So let us please get our priorities straight. Yes, Western governments should protect Muslim minorities from intolerance. And of course we should ensure that they can worship, live, and work freely and without fear. It is the protection of the freedom of conscience and speech that distinguishes free societies from unfree ones. But we also need to keep perspective about the scale and severity of intolerance. Cartoons, films, and writings are one thing; knives, guns, and grenades are something else entirely. As for what the West can do to help religious minorities in Muslim-majority societies, my answer is that it needs to begin using the billions of dollars in aid it gives to the offending countries as leverage. Then there is trade and investment. Besides diplomatic pressure, these aid and trade relationships can and should be made conditional on the protection of the freedom of conscience and worship for all citizens. Instead of falling for overblown tales of Western Islamophobia, let?s take a real stand against the Christophobia infecting the Muslim world. Tolerance is for everyone ? except the intolerant."
For example, all those who didn't roar defiance at the jihadists, and stand between them and her, as she--a sitting member of the Dutch parliament--was forced to go into hiding and eventually emigrate. Now here she is in Newsweek--liberal, multi-culti Newsweek!--warning us of the danger that non-Muslims and insufficiently Islamic Muslims face around the world, from the holy warriors of the One True Faith.
Unless you are Indian,Vietnamese or Chinese european,(like what thilo and sarkozy said "desirable foreigners") she as a black immigrant will also be shown the boot right behind their muslim counterparts.
She's already gone from Europe, actually; had to flee for her life--and not from racists, either. Of course Europe has a problem with racism, no question. But they will have an additional problem of a whole other stripe if they keep importing laborers from Turkey and Pakistan.
It's no guarantee against injustice, of course, but blacks have deep roots in Europe. They are not on a proclaimed mission to overthrow the societies of their new homes, as so many imported radicals are.
Unlike "racism" and "sexism", "islamophobia" did not have a life as a real social ill, before it was converted into an all purpose discussion-stopper.

An Islamified Europe or an Islamified America would be a disaster beyond lamentation for civilization. I would not want to trade places with the Copts or the Chaldeans, and neither would you. What's supposed to be hateful about stating the plain fact? And while you're at it, what race are Muslims?
The problem with your analysis is that it was the White Western world that invaded, disrupted and colonized the Muslim world, not the other way around.
Cast your memory back farther: The Jihad pre-dates the Crusades by hundreds of years. Ottoman "corsairs" were raiding and kidnapping along the coast of Ireland in the 1600s. Ships of the United States--which was only about 25 years old, and certainly had never done anything to any Muslim state--were attacked by the Dey of Algiers, in accordance with the Islamic command to wage war against all unbelievers, everywhere, forever.

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Archbishop Atallah Hanna on Wednesday condemned an attack targeting a monastery in west Jerusalem, expressing anger after extremists defiled the holy site with anti-Christian messages.
In a statement, the archbishop said that "what the settlers have done is rejected, and their racism is humiliating. ... They didn't harm us, they harmed only themselves," he added during a visit to pray at the site.
MY COMMENT: Come to think about it, the only Christians Racist Israel tolerate are those mostly living far, very far away in the American Bible Belt.
