The search for Aisha Khan, 19, who was last seen on the University of Kansas Edwards campus Friday, involved several law enforcement agencies. On Tuesday, her parents offered a $10,000 reward for information about her whereabouts.

But now officials believe Khan - with whom they reportedly spoke on Wednesday - was never the victim of a kidnapping. Where she was for five days remains a mystery, however, as police are thus far not releasing details.

Khan left a frightened voicemail for her sister Friday, saying she'd gotten into an altercation with a man on the campus where she'd been studying when he tried to kiss her. When Khan's sister arrived to pick her up, she found her sister's bookbag and cell phone abandoned.

Family friend Aamer Trambu told the Associated Press he couldn't answer questions about how Khan was found, but said "the fact is, she's alive she's well. We believe our prayers have been answered."

She apparently needed some time to disappear and stay out of sight for some reason. Maybe she went to a pig roast, or just wanted to go swimming in something other than a sweatsuit. Suspicious that she left her phone and keys in the park, too. She WANTED to disappear.

I'm wondering if she has connections to a city in Illinois. I swear I saw someone who looked just like her working in a Famous Liquor store. She was new. She seemed a bit nervous and she said her name was Aisha. The person who manages the package liquor place are of the same decent.

This was an easy one to figure out. Most people will not study outside when it is only 40 degrees. Further, most people, when threatened or accousted by someone as she claimed she was, would not remaining sitting outside alone at the place they were threatened. At the very least, they would go inside and/or to a place of safety or call 911 or campus security. The fact that she stayed there and got on the phone for 10 minutes to friends and family made NO sense at all.

In 2004, University of Wisconsin student Audrey Seiler faked her abduction and hid out in the woods while the city and state spent a huge sum trying to find her. Her actions had nothing to do with religion or culture.

While I completely agree and understand what you are saying, I would like to add one more thing. If, If, the relatives knew she ran away because of a inner family threat, they SHOULD get billed for the time and cost.

So it's okay to have rescuers pull you off of a mountaintop because you wanted to go skiing in the middle of a snowstorm, it's okay for the Coast Guard to pull you out of the ocean because you decided to go fishing when small craft warnings were posted, but it's not okay to have a little mental breakdown that makes you run away for a few days, right? Not macho enough for us, is it?

She probably was trying to escape from the control of being a female in a Muslim family. She needs to watch her back very carefully given the tradition of honor killings.

So, the $10,000 can be given to the police department and all parties involved in the search for her being she was never "abducted".

Yes, just like a spoiled three-year-old. I wonder if this naieve young woman realizes just how lucky she is. This story could very well have had a terrible outcome, but since she's okay, I would really like to know what she was doing and where she was hiding all of these days when people were spending their valuable time looking for her. It's not a good idea to lead the cops on a wild goose chase. Then they might be inclined to ignore any subsequent (but perhaps legitimate) calls for help.
