It hasn?t been a week since the most awaited DataWind?s Aakash Tablet was released on the internet, and the company announced that the Tablet PC has already been sold out.

However, Datawind emphasizes that the advanced version of Aakash tablet, UbiSlate 7, is still available online for pre-booking. UbiSlate 7 is priced at Rs. 2,999 and is scheduled to be released during the month of January, 2012.

A daily estimation of tablet PC sales in Indian market is over 8,000 tablets. However, with the entry of Aakash tablet, the current tablet PC market inIndiais likely to get a great impulse.

Aakash tablet was available online a week ago priced at Rs 2,500 with the chance of booking it online through its official website, through cash on delivery option with delivery in 7 days.

DataWind previously announced that there were 30,000 tablets available for pre-booking online. However, the exact number of tablets booked through the website is not confirmed, yet it is evident with the overwhelming response that the Aakash tablet is sold out within a week of its launch.

Now available for pre-booking, UbiSlate is priced at Rs 2,999, and it comes with an advanced version of Android operating system. Along with the upgraded operating system, it also offers longer battery life compared to the original version. In addition, it includes Wi-Fi and 3G, and SIM functionality is extending to voice calls. However, this upgraded version is just Rs 499 more than the original version.

Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO, Datawind said, ?Datawind first wants to build its name in the education sector before diversifying and catering to corporate needs.?

With the immense response to the original version of Aakash, DataWind is expecting more response to the upgraded version, which is due to be launched next month. For now, the company hasn?t provided any clear information about when the Aakash would be available online or when it would hit the retail market.

Many sources are confident that Aakash would definitely beat out the existing low-cost tablets, because Aakash is not only the cheapest tablet PC but also has numerous advanced features that many other low-cost tablet can offer.
